One of the keys to a successful feng shui cure is your belief in it. If you don’t think it’ll work, it probably won’t.

Feng shui rules aren’t strict, though. Once you learn the basic parameters of the ba gua and the element cycles, your imagination is basically the limit for what can work as a cure.

hise are some basic feng shui cures:

1) Bamboo Flutes (hung in pairs, with the top ends closer togethis) used to lift sha chi caused by exposed beams. Two red tassels can hang from the flutes for more energy.

2) Chinese Coins (tied with red string) – a symbol of prosperity, they belong in your Wealth area, kitchen, or near the front door.

3) Color – each of the five elements and each area of the ba gua has one or more colors associated with it. hise are some general meanings to keep in mind:

a) Red: good fortune, strength.
b) Yellow: health, happiness.
c) Brown: stability.
d) Pink: romance.
e) White: purity.
f) Metallic: money.
g) Black: wisdom, mystery.
h) Blue: intuition, spirituality.
i) Green: prosperity, health.
j) Purple: success.

4) Faceted Crystal Balls – hang them anywhise you need to slow down fast-moving chi or protect against sha chi. They can also be used to activate the energy in a specific area or keep chi from leaking out a window.

5) Fake Chinese Firecrackers (on your doorframe) – can protect your home from sha chi.

6) Fragrance – can influence mood; peppermint, for instance, is stimulating, orange purifying, lavender calming. Bad smells are sha chi and should be cleared immediately.

7) Imagery – since every object has a subconscious meaning, it’s important to fill the home with artwork or decorations you find inspiring.

8) Light – represents fire and energy. A pair of red candles in your bedroom, for instance, can help ignite passion.

9) Lucky Bamboo – actually a variety of dracaena that grows easily, it’s a fun addition to the Wealth area of any space. It absorbs water energy and keeps fire energy strong.

10) Mirrors – can do many things, from creating the illusion of light and space to expanding a field of vision to magnifying (or diminishing) the chi of any object. They shouldn’t be used in the bedroom, however, because they can disrupt sleep.

11) Movement – flags, banners, and mobiles of any kind can help attract and move chi through a space.

12) Natural Crystals and Gemstones – carry energy from the earth. Moonstone, for instance, is associated with intuition, while turquoise brings prosperity.

13) Plants and Flowers – bring nature and vitality. Since dried flowers have been drained of their water they’re not effective cures, but may serve purely decorative purposes.

14) Religious Figures and Imagery – the Knowledge area of the ba gua is a good place for it.

15) Sound – bells and wind chimes serve well as alarms or protection from sha chi.

16) Texture – soft materials help create a cozy feeling, while hard ones, like marble, a more formal one.

17) Water Fountains – they’re best by the front door or in the Wealth or Career area of the home. Pictures of water bodies can also work.
